It sounds great to me too!

I particularly like the "Hacker Profile" idea. Like Who's who pages 
(such as http://armlinux.simtec.co.uk/whoswho.html), this contributes to 
building the community, and makes face to face contact easier. We could 
even have interviews.

Other ideas:

    * Device of the Month (perhaps a bit redundant with linuxdevices.com
      content, but it could just be a link to a linuxdevices.com product
      review).
    * Orphan project: selected project needing a maintainer or just more
      contributors.
