The UHAPI implementation Task Force is working on an open source implementation for UHAPI.

Goal of UHAPI4Linux project
- Offer a common open Multimedia API for both PC and embedded
- Contribute to the open source community an API that incorporates years of experience in digital/analogue A/V embedded products
- Provide the environment, documentation and support for developing on UHAPI
- Provide a basis to enhance and enrich the UHAPI Linux PC implementation Feel free to contribute!
- Provide development platform on PC for application software
- Enable application developers to have a quick start with using UHAPI
- Can be a starting point for an embedded implementation
Status
Philips has demonstrated an initial version for the PC at the Januari CELF technical conference. This version has been extended, and more companies have started to contribute. At the Yokohama International Technical Conference, this 'UHAPI 4Linux' project was launched. The project has its own Sourceforge site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/uhapi4linux/
After completion of the AVG specification V2 (AudioVideoGraphicsSpec_V2), work has started to update the implementation according to the specification. Denis Kropp, DirectFB maintainer, will implement and mainline the combination of DirectFB and UHAPI Video Mixer.
